Lana J. Yuan 袁家琦 @Lana_yuan (b.1997, China) is a kinetic sculptor and installation artist. Her practice is driven by demonstrated contemplation of accelerated consumerism and mechanism society. By fabricating and reassembling hardware, household waste and children’s toys, Yuan explores deep personal emotions, human relations and social attribution. Her sculptures embody cautionary observations reflecting on consumption and technology’s increasingly pervasive role in human habitual activities. Yuan is interested in how the increasing dependence on technology and consuming behaviours humans are evolving, and how it is becoming an emotional pacifier with dehumanizing effects.
